2 | Saved but not living for God? | Matt 6:33 | kalos | 167799
I could only find the word "saved" 51 times in the NASB NT. So I guess it's not really a biblical word. It's just "Christianese." (Examples follow.) Joh 3:17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Joh 5:34 "But the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. Joh 10:9 "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. Ac 2:21 AND IT SHALL BE THAT EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.' Ac 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved. Ac 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." Ac 11:14 and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.' Ac 15:11 "But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are." Ac 16:30 and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Ac 16:31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." Ro 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. Ro 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. Ro 8:24 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? Ro 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; Ro 10:13 for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." 1Co 3:15 If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1Co 5:5 I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. |

3 | Saved but not living for God? | Matt 6:33 | Saint Luke | 168136
Kalos, Okay, you can count, I'm proud of you. I really wanted to hear what I Love Jesus, Jesus Freak had to say, but since you replied, your definition please!!!! I feel it is a much used term by many Christians, just like the "Baptism of the Holy Ghost", "slain in the spirit", and "filling of the Holy Ghost" meaning the same thing to many Christians. It is obvious Scripture says differently. Just because they can use the word in a sentence, doesn't signify they know what it means.............. I just wanted to see if we were on the same page, or if he were speaking Christianese. Luke |

Luke, Since "I love Jesus, Jesus Freak" only participated on the forum that "one day", and since you posted your response to Him / Her some 2 1/2 months later, I may be wrong, but you may not be getting a response from them anytime soon. Anyway, since the original question was posted on a “Bible Study Forum”, wouldn’t you think it was asked in a biblical context? What other definition would you expect given how it was asked? What’s Christianese anyhow? It’s not like we have our own language and you shouldn’t suggest that we do. That simply makes things much more difficult to discuss. To be saved is to be delivered. WOS |
