1 | How do i treat this person? | Matt 5:44 | WingsofAngels | 168195
I have another question. When somebody's talked about you and have turned people against you, are you suppose to love them? Because iam polite at times to this person but i really dispise them now, i refuse to forget about what she did to me. Plus, she is an atheist. i've tried talking to her about God but she just wont listen to me so i've just stop trying. Everybody sees her as an angel and it really bugs me because she decieves people all the time. How am i suppose to treat her? Should i just forget what she did to me? I can't ignore her because im around her everyday.

Hi Wings of Angels. What you are facing is not fun situation to be in. The Bible does address this sort of thing however. But it may not give the answer you want. Jesus said, in Matthew 5:43-48 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?...” Jesus tells us to love our enemies. This command goes against every fiber of our natural being. We can’t do it on our own. It requires an act of God. Fortunately, God never tells us to do something that He won’t give us the strength to do. So here’s some more advice from the Bible. Proverbs 25:21, 22 “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For you will heap burning coals on his (or her) head…” God asks us to love our enemies, He asks us to feed them when they’re hungry and give them water when they’re thirsty. How can He ask so much? When Christ was hanging on a cross He prayed "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." So this would be my advice to you. First, pray, and ask God to give the strength to be loving when you don’t feel like it. Second, be kind to this person. It could be that through your kindness you might win this person to Christ when all the preaching in the world would never accomplish anything. Third, just because God asks us to forgive our enemies doesn’t mean that we have to become a doormat. Those are just some thoughts. I’ll pray for you. Ocelot |
