Thank you Tim, What I was referring to was a statement that a respected minister made while I had my head under the hood of his car today. (I was ministering to an oil leak.) I am aware that there are Beatitudes found in Luke, but I was told that there are also (The complete number of)7 Beatitudes in the Book of Revelation. has anyone heard of this? Tim, your other comment also interests me. you say Ten? In Matthew I count 8, (verses 3 thru 10) and then in 5:11 there is an application of the former verse, thought to be spoken to the disciples, because of the change in the pronoun used. What do you think? |

Greetings Renovate Me! Sorry about that! I was operating off of memory. I should have said 9, not 10! :-( I thought you were talking about the Sermon on the Mount, and just confused it with Revelation. But, there are some 'blessed's in Revelation. They are: Rev. 1:3 - "Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." Rev. 14:13 - "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, 'Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.' 'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.'" Rev. 16:15 - "'Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.'" Rev. 19:9 - "Then the angel said to me, 'Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!'' And he added, 'These are the true words of God.'" Rev. 20:6 - "Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years." Rev. 22:7 - "'Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.'" Rev. 22:14 - "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city." As far as Matt. 5:11 is concerned, there could have been a change in subject, or it may have just been a stylistic difference. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
