Huh? I thought Exodus 21:24 was part of the written Law of Moses? When the passage says "said", it means it was "said" by Moses, who wrote down the Law. Matthew 5 contains a number of references to "you have heard that it was said", which all refer back to the Law, i.e. verses 21, 27, 33, 38 and 43. How about 2 Corinthians 3:7 then? That refers to the passing of the 10 commandments ("Law") for sure! It was the 10 Commandments that were written on stone, I believe? God bless, Sheima | ||||||

Sheima, Moses did not say this in Exodus 21:24, it was God. There was the written Law, by Moses ... then the oral tradition (some would say law). What Jesus was referring to in verses 21, 27, 33, 38 and 43 was the latter. I think the Jews twisted Exodus 21:24. That is why He said "You have heard that it was said". Jesus never changed the written Law. 2 Corinthians 3:7 does refer to the 10 commandements. But, the Law was more than that. Searcher |
