1 | Continuous Adultery or not? | Matt 5:32 | dcj | 163778
My present wife and I have been married for quite a while. We divorced our former mates on unscriptural grounds and know that we committed adultery when we married. My question is, according to Matt. 5:22 and 19:8, are we continually living in adultery as long as we are married and therefore, will be sent to hell, or has Christ forgiven us (we have asked for forgiveness)? I ask this because our former spouses are still living. Also, does anyone know the tense of the verb "commit" in these 2 passages of scripture. Is it a continual verb or a one time act? Please answer ASAP as it is bothering my present wife and me very much! |

2 | Continuous Adultery or not? | Matt 5:32 | Brajorkae2 | 163805
The Answer to your question lies in the very word you are seeking and answer to--COMMIT. It does not say one is living in adultery, but rather has committed, one time. Has God blessed you since your marriage? If so, then there-in also lies the answer. God will not comtinue to bless those who are living in or have unrepented sin in their Life. Hope this will help. Look to God for his mercy, grace and forgiveness, for man's mercy, grace and forgiveness is far shorter than God's and less reliable. God Bless |
