2 | Divorce or Putting Away ? | Matt 5:32 | DWF | 39230
First of all I'm not disputing what you're saying, but I've searched and can't find a difference between putting away and divorce. God hates divorce, marriage is sacred and eternal, He never intended for couples to seperate except for when one dies. The problem began in back in Moses' time. People got whinney and unhappy in marriage and wanted to be justified in "divorcing" their wives. So Moses said that if someone's spouse became unfaithful, then he could lawfully divorce her. But that was the only lawful excuse for divorce.(see Matt.19:7-9) In His service DWF |

3 | Divorce or Putting Away ? | Matt 5:32 | farout | 39241
In Malachi 2:16 the word used there is PUTTING AWAY. Putting away was used to send a wife away with out a certificate. Later if her husband wanted her back he could legally take her and her children if she had remarried with out the certificate of divorce. Thus Malachi says God hates putting away. When Jesus said in Matthew 5:32 the word divorce, it is really translated putting away. At that time men could put away for almost any reason. Check it out carefully. Even the earliest KJV uses the words puts away. Dr. William Cobel at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Kansas City, Missouri, did extensive work on these passages. Dr. Coble is now retired but might still be reached there. This makes for eye opening study. I too belive marriage is to last a life time. However we live in a sinful wourld. Christians sin, and the mess it makes is almost beyond belief. Even King David found mercy and grace, and forgiveness. Uriah did eventually face David in paradise. What do you think happened?
