1 | what passage are you referring to ? | Matt 5:31 | teragram123 | 56820 | ||
Dear bartay - Can you tell me where in the Bible you are basing this statement... "Jesus said that there was no excuse for divorce except adultery being committed"... I have always understood that Fornication was the only reason. Matthew 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Is not Deut. 22 addressing the issue of fornication and reason for "putting away" lawfully? Please explain |

Scripture ... Deut 24:1-4, Matt 19:1-9, Mark 10:1-12, 1 Cor 7:10-16 ... teragram123, this post is 18 months old. Fornication is when an unmarried person has sex, adultery is when an married person has sex with someone other than their spouse. Divorce for adultery was because of the hard heart of the "innocent" person ... not real grounds. The only grounds for divorce is if the unbeliever leaves. Searcher |
