Revelation is the wrong term to apply to one's own spiritual insights. ____________________ There is no new revelation. The canon of Scripture is complete. "I'd put my confidence any day in the teacher who's tough enough and dedicated enough to have spent years in the study of the Bible as over against the guy who claims to have received his spiritual insights by some arcane mode of special revelation." --Hank (ID# 81725) I would have to agree with Hank. The use of the term revelation in reference to one's own teaching incorrectly implies that such teaching is directly from God and thus infallible. Revelation is the wrong term to apply to one's own spiritual insights. *Illumination* is the ministry of the Holy Spirit which makes clear the truth of the written *revelation* in the Bible. In reference to the Bible, *revelation* relates to its content; *inspiration* to the method of recording that content; and *illumination* to the meaning of the record. There is no new revelation. As I am newly following Christ, I expect to make mistakes. I hope that the heart of your response was to lovingly lead me to understanding and that the intent was not make me cautious about pursuing the knowledge of GOD by asking questions of those more learned. It was merely to point out the misuse of terminology in order to spare you from certain problems.
