Deb, Any time is the right time to use scripture. It is a shame that believers are so afraid of using the very truth that God gave us in His word. I would have to agree with Tim and Joe, we cannot come from the stand point that everyone has the right to believe whatever they want. 1 Pet. 3:15 says: "but sanctify Christ as Lord in yourhearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks youto give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;" Now maybe Joe wasn't as gentle as he needs to be, however I do believe he is right to try to exhort a brother with the Word of God. |

I do not come from that standpoint either however you do not have the wisdom to see this. And it is definitely not always the right time to use scripture. If a person has the wrong intentions it is not right for that person to use scripture. If a person does not have the right heart it is not good either. Scripture can be very easily twisted in these circumstances and risk going against God's work. No matter how correct Joe may have been he was unsuccessful for a very good reason. He was more concerned for words than heart. Throwing out into the world your knowledge of the Bible will make little difference. You can believe he was right, I do not. |

So now you are judging the thoughts and intents of Joe's heart, are you? AMPLIFIED James 4:11 [My] brethren, do not speak evil about or accuse one another. He that maligns a brother or judges his brother is maligning and criticizing the Law and judging the Law. But if you judge the Law, you are not a practicer of the Law but a censor and judge [of it]. |
