Hi, Though there's a world religion that keeps introducing a female goddess as the creator of all that exists (I think this is mostly a pluralistic or femenist push to make Yahweh into "anything goes" godhead), when we read Scripture we find that God is represented by the Father (male), the Son (male), the Holy Spirit (male)... Jesus, the Word incarnate, refers to God in Heaven as my Father or the Father: Matthew: 7:21 10:32, 33 11:27 12:50 16:17 18:10, 19 20:23 25:34 26:29, 39, 42, 53 If you need more Scriptural passages feel free to drop a note! J Chrichton, Thanks for your response. I am in no way suggesting that God is female nor do I hold that God is inherently male. The classic definition of male would be someone who possesses male reproductive organs. I do not believe that God is male or female. Rather, the 1000 plus references of God's fatherliness or masculinity seem to me as being allegories moreso than anything else, so that we may better comprehend God with our finite minds. In other words, we understand God by utilizing references that we already know, such as "father" or "man". Therefore, God chooses to communicate in this way. I don't believe that a mortal mind can truly comprehend God's full nature, so these allegorical concepts are used by God. - Reighnskye |

"I don't believe that a mortal mind can truly comprehend God's full nature," Hi, Reighnskye! I respect your opinion and I totally agree with part of your statement (quoted above)... Yet, the fact that God applied the male gender to Himself (as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and the fact that He chose the male to represent Him in matters of worship and leadership (with the exception of a few far-in-between females) lead me to believe that He has preferred the male gender as His identifying sex--though I do concur with you, this self-definition is not dependent on male reproductive organs!
