1 | Keep the Passover vs Eat | Matt 26:18 | Mommapbs | 110474
What is the difference between Jesus' desire to "keep the Passover" and the offer of the disciples in verse 17 to prepare for Him "to eat the Passover?" (Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?")
2 | Keep the Passover vs Eat | Matt 26:18 | EdB | 110485
Mommapbs None. Jesus knew He was the fulfillment of the Passover, He was the Passover Lamb. He wanted to eat or share that feast/ritual with His disciples once more so that point would later be driven home to them. EdB |

Greetings EdB - I'm still thinking about this . . . sometimes we fail to see things from God's perspective, I suspect this this may be one of those times. Blessings, mommapbs |

4 | Keep the Passover vs Eat | Matt 26:18 | Ray | 110512
Hi Mommapbs, I think that comparing Scripture with Scripture would be good here. Matthew 26:17, "Now on the third day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus/, saying, "Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?" 18 And He said, "Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is at hand; I am to keep the Passover at your house with My disciples."'" 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover. Now when evening had come, He/ was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples." Mark 14:14, "and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is My/ guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?"" Luke 22:14, "And when the hour had come, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. 15 And He said to them, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer." It can be seen that Jesus wanted to eat the Passover with His disciples. The Passover was prepared by the disciples, but it definitely had the preparation of the Teacher in the finding of the guest room. The serving of the Passover was in the hands of the Teacher also, for Luke 22:27 says, "But I am among you as the one who serves." And verses 17-19 have the cup and bread of which He said "Take this and share it among yourselves." And "This is My/ body which is given for you..." So He was the one who served and the One who died. Another interesting thing is the inclusion in the Scriptures that He reclined at the table. Luke 22:27, "For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table, or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves." Looking at things from God's perspective, do we agree with the NKJ and the Holman Christian Standard for Luke 22:27? They render it as "But I am among you as the One who serves." Or could it be that He was among them when He reclined at the table, and that He is the greatest among them although as a servant? From the heart, Ray |

5 | Keep the Passover vs Eat | Matt 26:18 | Mommapbs | 110524
Great Observations Ray - thank you so much. Are WE reclining or serving? We "think" we are serving Him, when in reality, He is still serving us. And when we serve, WHO is doing the serving? It is Jesus in us! And yet as He serves through us, we are "served" by Him too! What a Savior! Have a God-blessed day! mommapbs |

6 | Are we reclining with Him, in love? | Matt 26:18 | Ray | 110528
Hi Mommapbs, Good thoughts, t. You asked "Are WE reclining or serving?" Your thoughts bring me to the fact that we can not outgive God. And we love because He first loved us. In regard to "reclining" as found in the Scriptures, seven (or more) other passages could be chosen to be discussed. 1) John 13:12, "And so when He had washed their feet, and taken His/ garments, and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?"" 2) Luke 14:7-15, "And He began speaking a parable to the invited guests when He/ noticed how they had been picking out the places of honor at the table; saying to them...12 And He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him,...15 And when one of those who were reclining at the table with (Him) heard this, he said to Him, "Blessed is everyone who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!"" 3) John 13:23-25, "There was reclining on Jesus' breast one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore gestured to him, and said to him, "Tell us who it is of whom He is speaking." He, [John] leaning back thus at Jesus'/ breast, said to Him, "Lord, who is it?"" 4) Luke 11:37, "Now when He had spoken, a Pharisee asked Him/ to have lunch with him; and He went in, and reclined at the table." See also Luke 11:45,46. 5) Matthew 26:6, "Now when Jesus was in Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it upon His head as He/ reclined at the table." ... 20 Now when evening had come, He/ was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples." 6) Luke 22:14, "And when the hour had come (He) reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him." 7) Mark 16:14, "And afterward He appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table; and He/ reproached them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after he had risen." Do we want to discuss any of those? Perhaps the question to ask is also "Are we reclining with Him?" We should not seek to be the ones reclining at the table being served, but rather we should be one with Him in purpose and spirit. From the heart, Ray |

7 | Are we reclining with Him, in love? | Matt 26:18 | Mommapbs | 110556
Greetings Ray, the very real Jesus, God of eternity, reclining WITH us - the picture is amazing, that He would desire to be made like His brethren . . . (Heb 2:17) And yet the question remains, do we desire to be made like Him? Stong stuff to think about! mommapbs |

8 | Are we reclining with Him, in love? | Matt 26:18 | Ray | 110574
Hi Mommapbs, Do you think that we can be made like Him? He is too high, we can not attain His stature. Paul in Romans 15:13-19 talks about joy and peace in believing and the power of the Holy Spirit. And he claims to be ministering as a "priest" [sic] the gospel of God. But I go with the NKJ for Hebrews 2:17 where Christ becomes a "High Priest" in things pertaining to (God), to make propitiation for the sins of the people. He becomes a High Priest, while perhaps we can only minister as priests [sic] of the gospel. Just as He is the Light of the world and we become lights of the world. Just as He is the Son of God and we are sons of God. We can not be made like Him, can we? Yet I think that we desire to know Him and desire to walk in the same manner as (He) walked. Keeping our minds on the things of the (Spirit) and the things pertaining to (God). The parentheses are mine for comparisons. 1 John 2:2, "and He (Himself) is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God/ has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him; 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as (He) walked." Hebrews 2:17, "Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He/ might become a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to (God), to make propitiation for the sins of the people." Romans 15:17, "Therefore in Christ Jesus I have found reason for boasting in things pertaining to (God). 18 For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, 19 in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and round about as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ." Romans 8:5, "For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Sirit, the things of the (Spirit)." God's Son was the propitiation for sin, and as an offering for sin, He/ condemned sin in the flesh. And because of that we walk according to the Spirit. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren, Amen. Galatians 6:18 From the heart, Ray |

9 | Are we reclining with Him, in love? | Matt 26:18 | Mommapbs | 110592
Good morning Ray, I love reading what God's Word has to say - AMEN, we will never become like God, contrary to what some folks believe! I suppose a better choice of words would be, do we deisre to be be conformed to His image? Romans 8:29 - I believe that this doesn't just happen, but requires our submission . . . as we choose to sow to the Spirit rather than the flesh (Gal 6:8). I think the Lord gives some of us "holy helpers" to point out those times when we are digging in the wrong soil (:-) Blessings back! mommapbs |
