1 | see to let you know the end is near ? | Matt 24:6 | CDBJ | 165749
Greetings, For starters, forget the end of the world stuff, that’s a bad translation to say the least! Matthew 24:3 (KJV) And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? Don’t hit the panic button, the word world, in the English, is translated from the Greek word AION and should read age or an epic of time. Matthew 24:3 (NASB) And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" The people in Thessalonica where getting all bent out of shape with regards to the events that they were seeing and Paul assured them of the following facts. 2 Thes. 1:7-10 (KJV) And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, [8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; [10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Paul expounds on this in the following verses so that they could be comforted. 2 Thes. 2:1-14 Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him, [2] that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. In todays English it could read, don't get all bent out of shape and don't be fooled. [3] Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, [4] who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. [5] Do you not remember that while I was still with you, I was telling you these things? [6] And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he may be revealed. [7] For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. [8] And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; [9] that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, [10] and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. [11] And for this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false, [12] in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness. [13] But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. [14] And it was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. I would say that the biggest question is, have you had faith in the truth yet, that is, the truth that Paul has is referring to? In other words, do you know for a fact, that if you were to leave this life today that would you be ushered into the presents of God in heaven with no questions asked?? Have a great day, CDBJ |

2 | faith in the truth | Matt 24:6 | Shythiyl | 165753
"Faith in the truth." ID# 165749 Such a glowing statement. Yet how can the many have faith in the truth, when they have no faith in themselves? They so adamantly refuse to reconize that truth. "Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God." I find myself teaching and preaching the truth of scripture. It seems I have started in the middle. Jesus Christ, and the Salvation He provides, is the end. Yet, it is only the beginning. The law is the beginning of salvation, for we would not know sin, were it not for the law of God. How can I convince anyone of "the truth," that they are in dire need of the salvation Jesus provides, without first convincing them of their guilt? |

3 | faith in the truth | Matt 24:6 | lionheart | 165755
Shythiyl, Greetings. We all are called by God to share our faith.Matt 28:18-20 We preach it,we teach it,and most of all we strive to live it. John 6:44 No one can come to Me,unless the Father who sent Me draws him;and I will raise him upon the last day. Isa 55:11 Gods Word gets results no matter what. People may tell us to take a hike, but believe this, the time and effort is not futile. The people we reach out to make a decision to do something with what we share with them, negitve or positive. That person will never be the same again. We plant the seed God will be the one to bring the fruit. Keep preaching it God will bring the fruit into the barn. PS; Let not your heart be troubled. In Christ, lionheart |
