1 | What is Love?? | Matt 22:37 | Rowdy | 115897 | ||
I have to agree. It's practically impossible to do justice to the definition of love in a Biblical discussion. We could discuss the many different ways Americans abuse love: "I love my pizza and ice cream" and then turn to the most precious person in the world to us and say "I love you too!!" How much more of a dichotomy do we need? Then we could discuss the 3 different words in the Koine Greek language of the Bible for love, each with its own very distinct definition. So I guess the ball is in your court. What particular kind of love are you wishing to discuss? Man's or God's? His is described pretty well, as mentioned in 1 Cor 13. Ours pales in contrast. God bless. PS: The search function to the right of your screen will bring up everything you could possibly want to know about this subject as this has been discussed many times before. |

Thanks. I was referring to God's love. This seven year old kid with the mentality of a maybe a six year old asked me what love was. No time to read I Cor. 13. I said that love was the ability to do right by a person inspite of your emotions. He didn't get it. I said be kind to people no matter how mad they make you. That one he got, but it didn't sit well with me. What I tell this kid might affect him for the rest of his life. I have a definate window of maybe three minutes with this kid tonight, after that I can not say. I just thought that I could get a simple definition off the forum by some mature parents. |
