Makarios: I recently read, and I agree, that the American Standard Version is the most literal of all the translations that do not contain the word "Literal" in the title. (Compare, for example the ASV with the YLT or the ALT -- both of which contain the word "Literal" in the title. The differences in the text are minor.) Unfortunately, the ASV is not easily available today. For a number of years it was completely out of print. It was recently being printed by one small publisher. It still is as far as I know. (I think you purchased yours at about the same time I purchased mine several years ago.) And the NASB is very close to the ASV. Grace to you, John |
