Is it correct to call Jesus God? If God is the Father and Jesus is the son how can we call Jesus God? I am getting a little confused. When we call Jesus God are we speaking of His power? Can we call Jesus and God Lord? I would appreciate any help. Thanks |

Dear Jim, I remember a children's fairtale where a girl and a boy go to a strange new world. The creatures there ask them what they are, and they don't understand the question. Their answer should have been, We are human. So can we call Jesus God? Yes, for that is what He is, just as much and no less than the Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. My Jehovah's Witness neighbors don't understand how the Son could be God. I explain to them that a son always has the same nature as his father. If an eagle has a son it would not be a giraffe. If the children in the fairytale world grew up, got married and had kids, their kids would also be human. Since the Father is God, His only begotten shares that same nature. The Jews in Jesus' day wanted to stone Him for blasphemy, because when He affirmed that He was the Son of God, they understood what Jesus meant (John 5:18). The Jehovah Witnesses don't. Lionstrong |
