1 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | Noveta | 132850
I have a question, regarding the following scripture: 1 John 1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. What is meant by Jesus coming in the flesh. Does it mean, Jesus in human form? Many religions, teachers, leaders, people believe this but they have different views as to what he came as and what he left as. |

2 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | survivor | 132914
Noveta: According to Scripture, Jesus existed as a spirit in the heavenly realm before coming to the earth.(John 3:13; 6:38, 62; 8:23, 42, 58) 1 Cor 15:45 states: "So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being (soul)"; the last Adam, a lifegiving spirit." So Jesus 'came in the flesh' as a sinless man like Adam, and was resurrected by God to live again as a spirit. However, now, the One "who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see" has granted Jesus and anyone else resurrected to heavenly life immortality. (1 Tim 6:16a; 1 Cor 15:53,54) To him (the one that no one has seen nor can see) be honor and might forever. Amen. (1 Tim 6:16b) |

Survivor, you wrote: " Jesus . . . was resurrected by God to live again as a spirit" How does your statement compare to the statement Jesus made to His disciples after His resurrection? "See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself; touch Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have." Luke 24:39 mommapbs PS: See also Acts 1:9-11 Jesus is promised to come back in the same way that He ascended into Heaven - it seems to me that as they SAW Him go, we will see Him return - VISIBLY. Can you see a spirit? |

4 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | survivor | 132920
Surely you do not mean to imply that Jesus is not God? If he comes visibly, this would invalidate consistent and clear Bible truth that no one can see God and live. (John 1:18; Ex 33:20; 1 John 4:12; 1 Tim 6:16)
5 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | james210 | 132921
Wasn't God visible (as Jesus Christ) before He died and rose again? Indeed "[He] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, all things were created by him, and for him." Colossians 1:15,16 Also, you stated that Jesus existed in the heavenly realm before He came to earth. Actually, being God, He created the heavenly realm so he pre-existed that, too (John 1:1-3). |

6 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | survivor | 132923
Perhaps someone can help me with the following: How does one know when to take the Bible at its word and when to ignore it? How do we answer those that would highlight this apparent contradiction to dismiss further discussions about the good news? |

7 | Jesus in the flesh | Matt 1:23 | james210 | 132927
I believe that we are both correct in saying that yes, anyone that sees God shall die, and that yes, Jesus Christ is God and people have seen Him. You're correct in stating that some would and will use this *apparent* contradiction to lead you down a rabbit trail. We should always take the Bible at its word, even in apparent contradictions as these. Personally, I'm not sure how to make this 'contradiction' make sense to someone who would ask me. |
