Is the bible literal in regards to history and creation? Timothy 3:16 depicts the bible as being a source for living or a guide. It doesn't directly or indirectly apply that the bible is literal. With that being said, how do we distibguish metaphors, parables, and symbols? None of these ideas take away from Timothy 3:16. When discusiing creation you are lead to believe that the bible is literal? Where is the proof that the Genesis creation story should be read as such? |

The bible identifies when things are not literal as when Jesus mentions creation: Matthew 19:4 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made[19:4 NU-Text reads [created.] them at the beginning "made them male and female,'[ Genesis 1:27; 5:2] ] "When discusiing creation you are lead to believe that the bible is literal? Where is the proof that the Genesis creation story should be read as such? " Without a literal Adam and Eve creation story, the "original sin" cannot be taken litterally either. Then the need for a Savior also falls so there is no longer a need for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "Where is the proof that the Genesis creation story should be read as such?" Where is any indication in scripture that the Genesis creation story can be read as none literal? Pastor Glenn |

Thanks. You helped me with 2 out of 3. The third answer is not what I am looking for it is just a philospohical answer. It is just like saying Why and someone answers Why Not? The answer to my third questions can actually be found within the first two answers, however I am still looking for something more. | ||||||

journey_me, Please notice that my last question was not exactly the negative of your question. I purposely threw in "...any indication in scripture ...". "Outside" of scripture there is His creation itself that declares His handywork: Rom 1 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, |
