1 | Elijah and John the Bapt. Mat. 17:11-13 | Matt 17:12 | Kimmers | 71145 | ||
Thank you for your reply. I strongly agree that ther is a very strong likeness in John the Baptist and Elijah. What I'm mainly trying to figure out what is being said in how the scripture is written. Is the scripture saying that John was born for a mission as a prophet in the same likeness as Elijah? Or is the scripture saying that John the Baptist was actually Elijah returning - Elijah's reincarnation? Thanks again, God Bless, Kim |

Hello Kim John could not be Elijah reincarnate. There's no such thing. The angel Gabriel explained it: Luke 1:16-17 (ESV) And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, [17] and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared." The Spirit's anointing and filling were on John to do what was required to fulfill the prophecy of Malachi. Steve |
