2 | John the Batist's Beheading? | Matt 14:9 | Sctt | 41711
Hi johnnyboy I think John said it best in his own words Jn.3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease. You see the people in that day thought John might be the Messiah ,and people from all over came to listen to him but God said in Mark.9:7 ...This is my beloved son, meaning Jesus:hear him. The full weight of the gospel could only come from Jesus Christ, not from Moses,Elias or John the baptist.Hear him. In Christ Scott. |

3 | John the Batist's Beheading? | Matt 14:9 | Ray | 41717
Hi Scott, You have some good thoughts here. The gospel of John was written that we might know that we have eternal life but it was indeed written also to downplay the importance of John the baptist. Your thought about "the full weight of the gospel" is why I capitalize the "Him" of John 1:7. I notice that you are not concerned about capitalization but if you know me you know that that is my "preoccupation" so to speak. John 1:7, "He [This one] came for a witness, that he might bear witness of the Light, that all might believe through *Him." John came that he might bear witness of the Light. He was a prophet who bore witness of the Prophet. Hear Him. (And see Him) From the heart, Ray |
