1 | How much does salvation cost us? | Matt 13:46 | Mommapbs | 98554
Greetings Lionstrong! Heard a great message in church about this passage that I thought you might like - My Pastor admitted that what he was about to share differed from the majority of commentaries, but who made them king . . . anyway, the gist of his messsage is this: the pearl is the church and Christ is the merchant. Now, plug this thinking into Jesus' parables about the sower and the field and you will see a connection. HE is the sower, He is the seeker and He is the buyer. I believe that God treasures people. We, His children are His joy. Knowing this gives new meaning to the verse, "The joy of the Lord is my strength." Neh 8:10 Knowing that I am deeply loved by God is beyond words. mommapbs |

2 | How much does salvation cost us? | Matt 13:46 | Ray | 98564
Hi mommapbs, It sounds like a good sermon to me. It appears that your pastor brings out of his treasured congregation things both new and old. Is he your inspiration for thinking new things? I can see in Matthew 13:44-50 the humanity of Jesus as the "man", the "merchant", and the "dragnet". I believe that it is a good contrast to the "Man" of Matthew 13:54, see NKJ. Unfortunately, the Scriptures tell us that they took offense at Him [sic]. Matthew 13:57 and Mark 6:3. The relationship that we have as Christians is not with a man who lived and died but rather it is a relationship with the Man, Jesus Christ who rose from the dead and is alive forevermore. 3 | How much does salvation cost us? | Matt 13:46 | Mommapbs | 98573
Amen Ray! My pastor is not my inspiritation, nor should any shepherd be, unless of course it is THE Shepherd! (This of course does not prohibit THE Shepherd from speaking through His shepherds or others even on this Forum!) But,truly, I was delighted in this sermon as this young man has ears willing to hear . . . so much of the time we get regurgitated messages and this one was refreshing and an encouragement to me for if you read my posts, you will see that many times, I take a different "tack" from the thinking of others. God is so amazing and so loves to tell us His thoughts - most of which are really about His great love for us! Blessings to you, mommapbs |

4 | How much does salvation cost us? | Matt 13:46 | Ray | 98600
Hi mommapbs, I have always appreciated your open mind and free thinking. And a new message is refreshing. My wife hasn't been a regular church attender for years and one of the reasons is that she hasn't heard a new sermon in her few occurances of attendence. I appreciate that your young man has ears to hear and is willing to speak of things new and old. The comparison of Matthew 13:9 and Matthew 13:52 and a further comparison/contrast of the verses following again shows to me how this Man wants to be returned to for healing, but they do not see or hear His wisdom and power.
