1 | How much does salvation cost us? | Matt 13:46 | Lionstrong | 5282
How much does salvation cost us? Nothing and everthing. Mark 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Only the sacrifice of the sinless, Son of God could ransom us from our enslavement to sin, from our debt to the righteous law of God. Any attempt to pay the debt we owe only cheapens the the blood of Christ and insults the total sufficiency of His finished work on the cross. Salvation costs us nothing. Christ's ransom fully satisfied the justice of God. Phil 3:8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, I disagree that "Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship." Our religion IS a relationship, God reconciled to man through Christ. And as we realize the value of this great pearl, we give up all as rubbish and suffer its loss to gain more of the value of this new relationship. Lionstrong |

4 | What's your point? | Matt 13:46 | Makarios | 5372
Lionstrong, this is an interesting question! I agree with you, that Christianity is so much more than a religion but also a relationship, a daily walk, with God Himself! And how joyous is that walk! I believe that this is what you were saying initially, and I agree with you. However, jim has pointed out that Jesus is the One who makes the final decision about a person's eternal destiny in Matt. 7:22-23, and doing so by looking at the heart of a man (1 Sam. 16:7). To reconcile what you were saying intially to what jim pointed out: We must pursue God with all our heart, soul, and might, (Deut. 6:5, Matt. 22:37) and in this way will our religion be so much more than just a religion but a relationship to the Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Thanks Nolan, I still don't know if Jim meant this. But your answer: "Jesus is the One who makes the final decision about a person's eternal destiny in Matt. 7:22-23, and doing so by looking at the heart of a man (1 Sam. 16:7)." If Jesus determines our final destiny by looking at our hearts, we're all lost, because any sin found in us must be judged, and the wages of sin is death. Jesus does not save us on the basis of what he finds in our hearts. We are saved by the perfect righteousness of Christ and His finished work for us on the cross. His righteousness is not infused in our hearts making us acceptable to God. No, the righteousness of the spotless lamb of God is IMPUTED to us, charged to our account. And the Father declares us innocent, not guilty, and we are accepted in the Beloved. This salvation was purchased with the blood of Christ and costs us nothing. It is the free gift of God (Rom 6:23) It is in this salvation that we love Him who first loved us. It is in this salvation that we persue with all that is in us Him who found our lost souls. It is in this salvation that we count all loss to gain Him who emptied Himself for us. Lionstrong |

6 | What's your point? | Matt 13:46 | jim | 5401
Lionstrong I agree that we need a relationship with Christ and without that we will never be with him. I was not saying Jesus makes the final decicion in the verses i quoted that without a relationship Jesus does not know you. we may do great things and never know God for we know that God honors the name of Jesus and we can ask and Jesus will do because we have faith He can do it and when we get to judgement God will say depart from Him He never knew you. We must be filled with His Spirit as was the beleivers in the Book of Acts or we will never be in relationship. Hope this help some God Bless
