1 | Did Jonah die in the belly of the fish? | Matt 12:40 | stjohn | 192353
Hi Hank, good to hear from you my friend. Pardon me sir, but what part of my post said that I didn't believe the story of Jonah? Could you please go back and read it and then point that out to me? I would be glad to recant if I said that I didn't believe ANY part of the Bible! The fact that whales nor fish nor any other animal that I have ever heard of can possibly swallow a man whole makes the story of Jonah all the more miraculous. God obviously did something to the fish that allowed it to be able to swallow Jonah. Hank, I agree with you and Jesusman, and I apologize to anyone that I may have offended especially you Jesusman. There is nothing wrong with extra biblical information to help prove that the Bible is true, although I also don't think it can soften a heart, only God can do that. My Intent, is to only make sure that we have our facts straight when we make a claim that we have a prof that will back up something in the Bible. If we don't do that, then its just one more reason for the lost world to say that we don't know what we are talking about. There is an awesome responsibility on us to GET IT RIGHT or we could just cause more of the lost to turn away. We better make very sure that we know exactly what we are talking about. And Hank, "paying attention" is something that I try very hard to do,... but thanks for the reminder anyway :-) God bless John |

John, points well taken and thanks for your painstaking efforts to set down your position with added clarity. One of the earmarks of a true believer, so it seems to me, is his deep resolve to take God at His word, that is to say, to look to Scripture as the plumb line by which to measure all truth. The Psalmist said, "The sum of Your word is truth, and every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting" (Psalm 119:150, NASB). And our Lord prayed, "Sanctify them in truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:17, NASB). God's blessings to you, too, John. --Hank
