The gifts of the Spirit can operate regardless of the presence of a spirit of error. 1 Corinthians is talking about the gifts. 1 John is talking about truth and error, a source of heresy for the church. (specifically, gnostic beliefs, I believe) |

Knowing that it is the same Holy Spirit that worked in Christ that works in us, to do as God wills, the person of the Holy spirit has not changed and can still be hurt or blasphemed against, and we cannot expect forgiveness for doing so, if we believe it is not relevant today (Hebrew 10:29. Acts 7;51. Ephesians 4:30) Again I ask why are we told to try the spirits? M.Royal |
