1 | Did you always believe in Jesus? | Matt 12:31 | M.Royal | 186901
keeping things in context, you cannot have verse 31 without 32 which is christs explantion. Just as the pharisees, you and I can say anything against Jesus, as the pharisees never failed to do resulting in the death of Jesus on the cross. However with all that they said or did to Jesus, Jesus said "Forgive them for they now not what they do" So even though they did not accept Jesus, just as the dying theif beside Jesus they could be forgiven. This is not the same for the Holy Spirit anything evil said about the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven, as Jesus has clearly stated. Do not forget Paul did start of as a follower/beliver of Christ and Jesus asked him why he was persecuting him. M.Royal |

2 | Did you always believe in Jesus? | Matt 12:31 | Psalm 25 | 186908
Greetings M.Royal, You have addressed several issues and this whole scenerio is quite complex.I am not sure what you are asking(?). Neither do I have expertise in this area. The pharisees were giving credit for the miracles to Satan and not to God (through the Holy Spirit). They were saying Jesus was not from God the Father but that He was performing miracles through the evil spirits (Satan). Jesus performed many mircles that the Old Testament said "only the Messiah could do, and would do." The miracles Jesus did was absolute proof-positive that He was indeed the Messiah. That's why I, and all Biblical scholars I know of, state that this blasphemy can not be duplicated today. When Jesus was on the cross and said "Father forgive them..." He was asking for God to pass over the killing of God's Son that would have gone against "the whole world," as well as the nation of Israel. No one killed Jesus or put Him on the cross. God used this entire event to "fulfill His purposes" in that the Son of God had to die for the sins of mankind. Jesus submitted to this voluntarily and we can only assume that had He not asked the Father "to forgive them" God may have destroyed the entire world,or at least the nation of Israel. Paul did not start off being a believer in Jesus. He became a believer while being struck down on the Damascus road. I am not sure if I answered your questions or just raised more? |

3 | Why do we try the Spirits? | Matt 12:31 | M.Royal | 187039
Hi Psalm 25, Whether we are apostles, prophets, teachers, workers of miracles, healers ect, it is all by the same Holy spirit as Jesus (1Corinthians 12:4-11,28) so therefore the same rule applies for obvious reasons as stated in 1 John 4:1. M.Royal |

4 | Why do we try the Spirits? | Matt 12:31 | Aslans_Friend | 187058
The gifts of the Spirit can operate regardless of the presence of a spirit of error. 1 Corinthians is talking about the gifts. 1 John is talking about truth and error, a source of heresy for the church. (specifically, gnostic beliefs, I believe) |

5 | Again I ask why do we try the spirits? | Matt 12:31 | M.Royal | 187125
Knowing that it is the same Holy Spirit that worked in Christ that works in us, to do as God wills, the person of the Holy spirit has not changed and can still be hurt or blasphemed against, and we cannot expect forgiveness for doing so, if we believe it is not relevant today (Hebrew 10:29. Acts 7;51. Ephesians 4:30) Again I ask why are we told to try the spirits? M.Royal |

6 | Again I ask why do we try the spirits? | Matt 12:31 | Aslans_Friend | 187136
We are told to try the spirits for our own protection.
7 | Again I ask why do we try the spirits? | Matt 12:31 | M.Royal | 187164
Thanks Aslans Friend, Also to ensure that we do not wrongly accuse someone of being or having a false spirit, resulting in us blaspheming the Holy Spirit. M.Royal |
