1 | Why is it not relevant today? | Matt 12:31 | Psalm 25 | 186832
If we keep Matt. 12:31 in context the pharisees refused to acknowledge Jesus as "the Son of God," and were therfore attributing His miracles as originating from Satan rather than from God. They only had two choices, either Jesus was "from God the Father" or He was not. If He was not then He got His power from the devil. The reason it is not relevant today is it was directly addressed to the pharisees as "they were the ones blaspheming the Holy Spirit giving credit for the miracles to Satan." The reason it was unforgivable is they did not believe in Jesus as being the Son of God. The one and only unforgivable sin is refusing to believe in Jesus.
2 | Did you always believe in Jesus? | Matt 12:31 | M.Royal | 186901
keeping things in context, you cannot have verse 31 without 32 which is christs explantion. Just as the pharisees, you and I can say anything against Jesus, as the pharisees never failed to do resulting in the death of Jesus on the cross. However with all that they said or did to Jesus, Jesus said "Forgive them for they now not what they do" So even though they did not accept Jesus, just as the dying theif beside Jesus they could be forgiven. This is not the same for the Holy Spirit anything evil said about the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven, as Jesus has clearly stated. Do not forget Paul did start of as a follower/beliver of Christ and Jesus asked him why he was persecuting him. M.Royal |

3 | Did you always believe in Jesus? | Matt 12:31 | ebrain | 186905
Hi M.Royal. As you can see from the extract given bellow, the words, to which you refer do not appear in some manuscripts. however, if we accept them as being true, then, Jesus would be refereeing to the Roman soldiers, and not the Pharisees Luk 23:34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”[fn2] And they cast lots to divide his garments. 23:34 Some manuscripts omit the sentence And Jesus… what they do ebrain. |
