1 | owning a house is debt?? | Matt 10:34 | msdudda21 | 111258 | ||
There is a person in my life that I have a difference of opinion with about debt and ways of life. I love photography and this person has brought up that I spend to much time with this hobby and if I truly love God why isn't all my time spent on God the same with tv. I drawl the line when something I am doing whether it be a hobby or tv starts to interfere with my walk with God. To him owning a house is debt if you owe on it. I think when the bible talks about debt it means living outside your means, out of your budget. Finally my question is what are some of your opinions and can you show me any verses that relate. Thank you:) |

Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. (NASB Romans 13:8) "Owe nothing to anyone." 'Not a prohibition against borrowing money, which Scripture PERMITS and REGULATES (compare Ex. 22:25; Lev. 25:35-37; Deut. 15:7-9; Neh. 5:7; Psalms 15:5; 37:21,26; Ezek. 22:12; Matt. 5:42; Luke 6:34). Paul's point is that all our financial obligations must be paid when they are due.' (Emphasis added.) ____________________ The MacArthur Study Bible, John MacArthur,Word Publishing, 1997 |
