1 | Can A Christian disown Christ? | Matt 10:33 | Morant61 | 15919 | ||
Greetings There! Sorry it took me so long to answer, I never got a notification about your response! My point was basically that whichever view you take on the application of these two verses, it would be very difficult to see two different groups being referred to. Since the same pronoun is used in both verses, it would be difficult to say that one is a believer and one is not. Personally, I see both verses as referring to believers. The context concerns being a witness in a very hostile environment. Then, two scenerios are lain out. One concerns being a faithful witness, the other concerns being an unfaithful witness. Concerning "av", it really is connected with the verb, not the indefinite pronoun. It is usually used with conditional statements. In this case, it may mean something like what Charis said in his post, that denial is possible but unlikely. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I can see your point, Tim. It could be a possible explanation. But I still think that Christ, as mediator between us and God, is saying that if anyone denies (rejects) Him, He will reject them before God (in judgment). To me, rejecting Christ is more than simply being an unfaithful witness. But again, you've made a good point here. |
