1 | Can A Christian disown Christ? | Matt 10:33 | Searcher56 | 15744
Bill Mc, a Christian is one who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and is saved (Acts 16:31). You are right, the rich man that came to Jesus was told in Matt 19:21 was for him. However, the pronoun is "you". In the verse I cited it is "whoever," so it goes beyond those who heard Him say it. Somone is going to read this passage. They could be a young Christian and wonder. So, I think we need to provide them some Biblical answers. Steve |

2 | So ALL who believe in Christ are saved? | Matt 10:33 | Bill Mc | 15765
Dear Steve, Please permit me to ask a young Christian's questions then: It is a historical fact the Peter denied Christ. Not just once, but three times. So, when Peter did this, was he saved? What if he had died after denying that he knew Christ? Would he have gone to hell? We know that he had, at some point, 'believed in the Lord Jesus Christ'. He actually said to Jesus, "You are the Christ." So was Peter saved when he denied Christ? How about Satan? He believes that the Lord Jesus Christ exists. The demons believe that God exists and tremble. Acts 16:31 says, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved...' Are they saved? Why or why not? The angels believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Are they saved? The Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as well as the Mormons. Are they saved? Muslims believe that Jesus existed and was a prophet. Are they saved? Isn't then, everyone who 'believes in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31) saved? That is what the scripture says. Is it true? In Christ, Bill Mc |

3 | So ALL who believe in Christ are saved? | Matt 10:33 | Searcher56 | 15783
Bill Mc, an old Christian answering. Was Peter saved when he denied the Lord? Yes, just as the other OT saints. Satan and his demons are not saved. They do not believe in Him. Nor do the other groups saved. The angels made a choice, did they not - Satan or God? Bill, answer the question "Can a Chrsitian deny Christ?" Steve |

4 | So ALL who believe in Christ are saved? | Matt 10:33 | Sir Pent | 15789
You combine many questions here, which probably each deserve their own thread. I will attempt to answer them briefly, but would recommend seperate threads if more detail is required. As for Peter's denial of Christ, that is already covered in a current thread. As for Satan and the fallen angels, yes they believe in Jesus' existence, but this is not enough. Imagine a cancer patient who visits their doctor. The doctor diagnoses the problem and prescribes some medicine to take, which will cure their disease. The patient may be completely convinced that this medicine is at the pharmacy and would be effective at curing their disease. However, if they don't choose to go pick up the medicine and take it, they will still die. Believing that Jesus exists is not sufficient for salvation. As for Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, and Muslims, the problem there is that the "Jesus" that they believe in is not at all the Jesus which is in the Bible. For instance, Muslims and Mormons do not believe that Jesus was actually God. Therefore, they do not really believe in the real Jesus at all. I understand and appreciate that you are bringing up questions, which young Christians and non-believers would naturally ask. But I hope that they will be able to see that these appearant contradictions that you bring up are actually not contradictions at all. |
