Bill Mc, an old Christian answering. Was Peter saved when he denied the Lord? Yes, just as the other OT saints. Satan and his demons are not saved. They do not believe in Him. Dear Steve, to answer your original question: Here in this passage the disciples were sent out to preach that Messiah had come. They were sent only to the house of Israel (Jews). We know that salvation went to the Jew first. In light of that context, those to whom the disciples went had a choice of either accepting Jesus as Messiah or rejecting, denying that He was indeed Messiah. I believe it is an error to make this a proof text for a Christian's acceptance or rejection of Christ. The disciples, in this passage, where not sent to "Christians."
