1 | Are you a follower of Jesus or a church? | Matt 10:32 | CDBJ | 108505
Hi MichelleH, and wecome to the forum. It's interesting to hear how the Lord is working in peoples lives and what he has revealed to them. Have you come to the point yet, in your walk with the Lord, where you can say, without a shadow of doubt, that you have eternal life? I guess what I am asking is how far have you come with your walk? Have a great day, CDBJ |

2 | Are you a follower of Jesus or a church? | Matt 10:32 | michelleH | 108510
CDBJ, You know, I can only say this: I hope that I have eternal life by lots good deeds I do (with family and strangers), my faith, help spreading the Good News and by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. Like I told my brother, one can hope they have enternal life, and they can do their best to get it, but we all have to face judgement when we kneel down before our Lord. Michelle |

3 | Are you a follower of Jesus or a church? | Matt 10:32 | CDBJ | 108516
Hi MichelleH, me again, I have got some fantastic new for you if you are willing to believe what God says in his Word, the Bible. Read the book of John in the New Testament and focus on what God promises! Here are a few examples that you can claim. John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Do you know that none of us will ever be good enough to make it to heaven? As far as God is concerned there is no good that we can do. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. We are all sinners is God’s eyes and have earned the wages of death or separation from him for all eternity. But God did something for us that we couldn’t do for ourselves! Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; God has a plan for us and it all revolves around his special Son Jesus. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Michelle, did you catch in this last verse that God has a gift for you? It’s eternal life and it’s a gift; that means we can’t work for it because if we try to work for it we would get wages and that means death. Gifts are free and so is eternal life, but it only free to those who will accept it. Someone else had to pay for your eternal life and that is where Jesus comes in. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Grace, as mentioned in the Bible, means we can’t earn it and we sure don’t deserve it. God dose all the work through his Son Jesus on our behalf on the cross, he was your substitute and died personally for you! The only thing that God wants you to do is put all of your faith and trust and expectation for eternal life in his Son. God say, if you will do this, then he will give you eternal life as a gift and Jesus will come into you and dwell with you of ever. Ephes. 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Now is that a great deal or what??? Here is my most favorite verses in the whole Bible and you can claim them too. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. If you have Jesus in you, eternal life is a free gift and you can know it right here and now. Why don’t you tell God in your own word, right now, that you are going to put your trust in his Son, Jesus and claim this promise for your own? Jesus said, John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Have a great day and I expect to see you in the future life, CDBJ |

4 | Are you a follower of Jesus or a church? | Matt 10:32 | michelleH | 108564
CDBJ, I know that salvation is a free gift, because I have always learnt it. I have also learned not to boast on it (unlike my brother which he said to them that he will definitely have eternal life because of his works of traditions of men at his church). My parents always taught me that one hopes they will have eternal life. It's just being humble. Michelle |

5 | Are you a follower of Jesus or a church? | Matt 10:32 | CDBJ | 108582
Hi Michelle, The word hope, as used in the New Testament comes to us from the Koine Greek word ELPIS. Col. 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The word for ELPIS translated hope in the English, doesn’t mean, I hope so, it actually means an earnest expectation that we look forward to; It’s a finished thing that is sure! The reason that it is a sure thing is because Jesus did ALL the work that it takes to have eternal life, and it doesn’t depend on anything that we can do except put all of our trust in Him! Please realize what this is saying. 1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Notice, we are permitted to know right here and now. Check out the following. Who are the ones that this verse was written to? Answer. Those that believe in the Son of God. They are the ones that know that they have eternal life because God has revealed it to them. On the other hand, if one doesn’t know for sure that they have eternal life, it is because they don’t fully believe in the Son yet and God hasn’t revealed it to them! If one doesn’t know that they have eternal life, right here and now it’s because they don’t really believe what God is telling them. When the amount of faith and trust, in Jesus is reached for salvation, God will come and dwell in you and He will automatically place you in the protection of His Son and you will become a new creature in Christ. The word faith or believe in the Greek means a total commitment and reliance upon, not just an acknowledgment of something. It’s like believing that a chair, is in fact a chair. The problem is just believing it a chair won’t do you any good until you sit in and depend on it to hold you up! When one puts ALL of their faith in Jesus for salvation God will give you His Spirit at that point and you will know that you have eternal life, right there and then. Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Ephes. 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, The word gospel actually means the GOOD NEWS and the good news is that God has done a great work for you in the person of His Son and you can know right now that you have eternal life because it depends on what Jesus did, not something that you are trying to do and can’t! When one truly believed in Jesus for their salvation God the Father places them in the person of His Son. From then or when God looks at you he sees Jesus and His perfect righteousness and not our sins. 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him, JESUS, to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. When a person is in Christ they are declared perfect in God’s eyes. Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Why don’t you tell God the Father that you are going to believe in His Son right now then read the book of John and let God reveal His truth and give you the peace of mind about your eternal life? Have a great day IN Christ, CDBJ |

john1423: We are saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9). CDBJ is correct, and I see no error in his words. No offense intended, but you are advocating salvation by (very little) grace, plus works, then being kept by... works! I think I've summarized your belief correctly:-) Yours is a salvation that is both uncertain and hardly attainable except by self-effort. It is more like temporary life. You are most welcome to that, however I chose to believe in the God who "...is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them." (Heb. 7:25) Let me ask you this: Do YOU really belive you are saved that way??? Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |

Jesus applied His precious grace and blood to me because of my obedience to His gospel(2nd Thessalonians 1:8;1st Peter 4:17). I died to my sins(1st Peter 2:24), was buried and raised with Christ(Romans 6:3,4;Colossians 2:12). Salvation is in the body of Christ(2nd Timothy 2:10).I have living faith(James 2:18-26). Christ is my holy ark(1st Peter 3:21) because Christ shut me in(Genesis 7:16;1st Corinthians 12:13;Galatians 3:26,27). You claim to get in another way(John 10:1). |

Erik, Your post unfortunately reeks of spiritual superiority:-) You simply assume too much without having any prior relationship, repoire with, or knowledge of what I or anyone else on this Forum believes! I'm afraid you're putting the cart before the horse in making a statement like "Jesus applied His precious grace and blood to me because of my obedience to His gospel" What of Romans 5:8 where Paul writes "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Though I don't particularly care, how is is that I "claim to get in another way?" Finally, with all due respect, I've seen far too many, such as yourself, waltz in on this Forum proclaiming your views of salvation, pet doctrines, etc. and expecting to be heard or taken with any measure of seriousness. While you are entitled to your views, might I ask what it is YOU hope to achieve? It's been wisely said that a man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still. I'm still holding to mine. My hope and prayer for you Brad is that you will "be saved from this perverse generation"(Acts 2:40). Only by the grace of Lord is salvation even available(Acts 15:11). So I choose to obey the truth(1st Peter 1:22;John 14:6 and be a member of the church of Christ(Matthew 16:18;Acts 20:28;Romans 16:16; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 5:23-28). I will not be deceived by imitation assemblies. |

To ease your mind, sir, and put your concerns to rest, it should be noted that BradK has shown every earmark in his numerous posts to this Forum of being a regenerated believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Because Brad doesn't happen to be of the denomination called "The Church of Christ" in no wise means that he is not "saved from this perverse generation" as you intimate in your post. And by the way, what do you mean by "imitation assemblies" as you use the term in the closing sentence of your post, to wit, "I will not be deceived by imitation assemblies."? --Hank

hi Hank Hank is my physically deceased stepfather's name by the way. I accidently sent a response to myself. Please if you would Hank just take a little time to read and meditate on the scriptures I posted in my note on January 9th. Jesus prophesied(Acts 3:22)that he would build His church. Jesus began building His church in Jerusalem(Luke 24:47)and continues to build it(1st Peter 2:4,5). I have tried to teach religious denominations the doctrine of Christ but they choose not to hear His words(1st Timothy 6:3). It is like Matthew 13:14,15. It is like when Christ said to His 12 apostles before they were filled with the Paraclete when He answered John's question by saying "It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it"(John 13:26). I still to this day cannot understand why some of His disciples thought Judas left to do a good work and you know one of them said to "buy those things we need for the feast" because that statement is in quotations(Matthew 13:29). Judas left the feast to do evil (John 19:11) so unlike the 11 Judas did not receive the honor and privilege of hearing some of the greatest doctrine of Christ(John 13:31-17:26). The church of Christ is His church because He died for it(Acts 20:28). To say the church of Christ is a denomination is not based on biblical truth(Matthew 16:18;John 17:20-23;Romans 16:16;1st Corinthians 1:10;Ephesians 5:26,27). Jesus promised that the church of Christ only shall rise up(Matthew 16:18 and Romans 6:3-5). But there are also many imitation assemblies and some that even claim to be the "church of Christ"(Matthew 13:27-30;1st Timothy 4:1;2nd Peter 2:1;2nd Timothy 4:3). Speaking the truth in Love(Epehsians 4:15; 1st John 4:8; 1st Corinthians 12:13). |
