1 | remnant and remainder? | Zeph 2:9 | Ray | 99596
Hi mommapbs, I believe that there will always be a remnant of God's people so I don't see that we can differentiate between the people and the nation very easily. I would be interested in your thoughts. As far as differentiating between the Persons of the Trinity is concerned, I believe that that also would be difficult. Here are some Scriptures that I have come to compare/contrast through the years. They show these thoughts I believe. The parentheses are mine for comparison and the * words are changes in traditional capitalization. Romans 2:29, "But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God/. 3:1, Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God. What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? May it never be! Rather, let (God) be found true, though every man be found a liar,..." Zephaniah 2:8, "I have heard the taunting of Moab and the revilings of the sons of Ammon, with which they have taunted My/ people and become arrogant against their territory. "Therefore, as I live," declares the Lord of hosts, The (God) of Israel,..." Isaiah 11:10,11, "Then it will come about in that day that the nations will resort to the *Root of Jesse, who will stand as a signal for the peoples; and His/ resting place will be glorious. Then it will happen on that day that the Lord will again recover the second time with His hand the remnant of (His) people, who will remain, From Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, And from the islands of the sea."...16 And there will be a highway from Assyria, For the remnant of His/ people who will be left, Just as there was for Israel In the day that they came up out of the land of Egypt." John 10:14, "I am the *Good *Shepherd; and I/ know My own, and My own know (Me), even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My/ life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they shall hear (My) voice; and they shall become one flock with one *Shepherd. For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I/ may take it again." Micah 2:12, "I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel. (I) will put them together like sheep in the fold; Like a flock in the midst of its pasture they will be noisy with men. The breaker goes up before them; They break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it. So their king goes on before them, And the Lord at their head." You realize that the comparisons are written in pencil in my Bible and I give them to you for what they are worth. From the heart, Ray |

2 | remnant and remainder? | Zeph 2:9 | Mommapbs | 99630
Greetings Ray, I see Israel as the "remnant of My people" and with regard to the "remainder of My nation, may I suggest that Abraham is called the father of many nations (Rom 4:17-18) . . . After reading a post by lastday, I began to wonder about the islamic world. They are called the Nation of Islam - do they not also call Abraham their father, believing that they are the sons of the promise that belongs to Ishmael rather than Isaac? Well, I'm just wondering if being from the loins of Abraham, if this nation will also be part of those who turn to Jesus duing the "last days" when God begins to judge the earth? These are my thoughts, also written in pencil . . .! I hope this post finds you feeling better. In Christ, mommapbs |

3 | remnant and remainder? | Zeph 2:9 | Ray | 99640
Hi mommapbs, I like your comparison and connection to Romans 4:17. I would hope that all the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place, as Zephaniah 2:11 says. But I am the wrong person to talk about the last days for that has never been my interest. For me, "Today" is the day of salvation. And salvation is not found in Allah or in any other god of the earth. Salvation is found in the God of Israel just as Zephaniah 2:9 says. Hebrews 3:12, "Take care, brethren lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God. But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end; while it is said, "TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME." Good to hear from you, mommapbs. I am doing fine now, thanks. From the heart, Ray |
