11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? 12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. The Scripture says what it says An angel of the Lord - a term used to speak of God Himself. We know this because later and all around the verse Ex 3:11 it actuall says "GOD" So GOD revealed Himself as an Angel-like person a spiritual person. This is much different then your conclusion that just "a" angel of God but "the Angel of God" Later in History God reveals Himself as a man "Jesus CHRIST the LORD" so God has and can reveal Himself like an Angel or a Man. Besides if you read Ex. 33:11 is says God spoke to Moses as like a man would ---"Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend"--- the """as""" indicates that it was """as""" a man speaks not that The Father Himself in all His Glory spoke to Moses face to face. God is a consuming fire -Deuteronomy 4:24 If you have more Question I will try to help. In Christ Michael |

Hello! The New Scofield NIV Study Bible states, "EXODUS 33:11 - 'Face': Num. 12:8; Deut. 34:10" The Ryrie Expanded Edition NASB states, "33:18-23 Moses’ request for a vision of God was granted, though not fully and with great precautions. Moses’ prayer was fully answered on the Mount of Transfiguration centuries later (Luke 9:32). Cf. note on John 1:18." The Disciple's NIV Study Bible puts it this way, "EXODUS 33:11-17 Prayer, Personal—Prayer is a conversation between friends. Moses was intimate with God, "face to face" (Dt 34:10). The seeing was spiritual, not literal (33:20, 23). Abraham was also called the friend of God (2 Ch 20:7; Isa 41:8; Jas 2:23). Prayer involves human search for direction, instruction, and confidence of God’s presence. It brings identity to God’s people. God responds to the personal requests of His friends." These provide interesting points of view regarding Moses' communication with God in Exodus 33:11.. Nolan |
