Colin How do you come to the conclusion that Zipporah and her family wer Ethiopians? We are told they were Midianites. EdB |

2 | Who was Zipporah father | Ex 2:21 | flinkywood | 111655
EdB, that is a great question. I took it from Numbers 12.1 "Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman)", which the NASB cross-references to Zipporah in Exo 2.21. The Cushites were an Eastern African tribe of Southern Egypt. I'd always assumed they were Ethiopian. The OT is apparently vague on the Midianite-Cushite background of Moses' wife. Either Moses had another wife, a Cushite, in Num 12.1 or she was the one and only Zipporah. I'm stumped on this one, EdB Colin |

3 | Who was Zipporah father | Ex 2:21 | EdB | 111759
Colin Zipporah was Midianites which is a sub group of the Cannanites which lived North and East of Israel. The Ethiopians are a sub group of Cushnites which are in Eastern Africa or south and west of Egypt. I think Zipporah had to have died which makes sense since the life span of that time was about 40 years. I think Moses then remarried a Ethiopian woman that might have been traveling with them from Egypt. EdB |
