2 | what is the oil in the lamps mean? | Ex 27:21 | retxar | 16452 | ||
The lamps were symbolic of God's people; the church. Example of lamps being the church: Mat 5:14 You are the light of the world. Rev 1:20 ....the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches. Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. The lamps were the only light in the tabernacle and were to be trimmed and filled daily with special prepared oil. God’s people are the light in the world and we are to be constantly trimmed and re-filled with the Holy Spirit. In Zechariah chapter 4, Zechariah had a vision about the lampstands in the temple he had been commissioned to rebuild. He saw lampstands that had a never ending supply of oil. Zec 4:6 says “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” Says the LORD. Might and power here are referring to our own mental, physical, and materialistic capabilities. God is saying any work for Him will only be accomplished by the Spirit of God working through His people. Jesus Lives, retxar |
