To your second question: "Has the LORD as much delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. (1 Sam 15:22) Also related is: "For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings" (Hos 6:6). Again, read the context.
