1 | Nebuchadnezzar a true believer? | Dan 2:47 | Searcher56 | 6217
I am saying that whoever put that footnote in is incorrect. Who quoted Dan. 4:8. To me it is very clear in the NASB, Belteshazzar was Daniel's name. As I pointed out, he was given that name in Dan. 1:7. Since it is his heathen name, the passage cannot read 'the Spirit of the holy God.' It is not from studying the original, but, from letting the Scripture prove itself, by the context of the entire book. Acts 17:11 lets me check whatever is said. |

2 | Nebuchadnezzar a true believer? | Dan 2:47 | Ray | 6231
Hi Steve Butler, You realize that I chose Spirit of the holy God from the footnote. The NKJ reads Spirit of the Holy God. My wife is a school teacher and she has to fight the temptation to classify every "Nathan"or "Benjamin" or whatever name as a troublemaker just because she has had trouble with a lot of them in the past. In other words, I think you have to get past his heathen name. It is true that scripture doesn't tell us that Daniel spoke in tongues as proof of his committment. As far as Nebuchadnezzar is concerned, another case for "security of the believer" might be argued. In any case, get back with me about what I missed with the "resd" to Hank. |

3 | Nebuchadnezzar a true believer? | Dan 2:47 | Searcher56 | 6234
Ray ... I do not care what any version says. I study the Bible to see what God says. Everyone could be wrong, even me. However "whose name is Belteshazzar according to the name of my god, and in whom is a spirit of the holy gods", to me refers to his gods, Not YHWH. |

4 | Nebuchadnezzar a true believer? | Dan 2:47 | kalos | 6241
Steve: You write, "I do not care what any version says. I study the Bible to see what God says." If you are studying the Bible without regard to what any translation or version says, then you must be reading it in the original languages. "Everyone could be wrong." Yeah, that really makes sense. All the Bible versions -- all of them -- could be wrong. And yet the gospel is being preached and souls are being saved, even though (according to your hypothesis) there is not one sound translation of the Bible upon which to rely. |

5 | Nebuchadnezzar a true believer? | Dan 2:47 | Searcher56 | 6258
I do not trust any one translation. I like to look at the original and several transaltions, even a non-English one. Everyone could be wrong, even I can. No one has ever got it all right, except for Christ. People are saved because of translations ... around the world. Yet, when a word is forced from English as the word, instead of Greek, I've seen problems. I am done. Steve |
