1 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Pastor Glenn | 82443
You said: "Frankly, I'll take 2003 sinners over 1953's Pharisees any day. My sense is Jesus would too. " Jesus may take "repenting" sinners. Many are very comfortable to stay in their sins. Here are key scriptures concerning repentance: Jeremiah 18:8 if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 2 Chronicles 7:14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Ezekiel 18 30"Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways," says the Lord GOD. "Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. 31Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? 32For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!" Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God. Pastor Glenn |

2 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Piper | 82513
Pastor GLenn It's odd you're quoting all O.T. verses. Is repentence the 3rd or 4th thing you have to do to be saved. Does it come before or after baptism? I want to make sure I get it perfect. That's what counts. |

Piper, You asked: " Is repentence the 3rd or 4th thing you have to do to be saved. Does it come before or after baptism? " Repentance is the first thing you have to do to be saved and so comes before baptism: Mark 1:4 John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Luke 3:3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, Luke 24:47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 4 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Piper | 82516
Oh, I'll make a note of it. I thought faith in Jesus's perfect sacrifice was first, then walking in the sprit, then repenting, then baptism. Thank God for erasers Am I missing anything? |

Piper, You asked: "Am I missing anything?" It is not easy to put God's plan of Salvation into a lengthy step by step list. Here are more key scriptures. Godly Sorrow: 2 Corinthians 7 8For even if I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it. For I perceive that the same epistle made you sorry, though only for a while. 9Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. 11For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter. Faith comes by hearing: Romans 10 8But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart"[5] (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."[6] 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."[7] 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,[8] Who bring glad tidings of good things!"[9] 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "LORD, who has believed our report?"[10] 17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Pastor Glenn |
