Hi Steve, The Young's Literal Translation has for Ezekiel 20:35, 36 a declaration of the Lord Jehovah. Ezek 20:35, YLT, "And I have brought you into the wilderness of the peoples, And have been judged with you there face to face. 36 As I was judged with your fathers, In the wilderness of the land of Egypt, So I am judged with you, an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah." This "seems" to say that God will be judged along with the people. Indeed it does say that, and I would not agree. I would not agree with the NKJ in their saying that it would be necessary that His case should be pleaded. I go with the NASB for Ezekiel 20:35,36. 1) I didn't say that 1 Corinthians 10:9 "fit" with the idea of God being judged or tried. But the passage "fits" in that when the people were judged, "with most of them God was not pleased". In other words, they were not counted as belonging to Him. From the heart, Ray |

P.S. Ezekiel 20:39b, "...but later, you will surely listen to Me, and My/ holy name you will profane no longer with your gifts and with your idols." 1 Corinthians 10:5, "Nevertheless, with most of them God was not pleased; for they were made low in the wilderness. 6 Now these things happened as examples for us, that we should not crave evil things, as they also craved."...9 Nor let us try the Lord/, as some of them did, and were destroyed by the serpents." We later, drink of the same spiritual drink. 1 Corinthians 10:3, NKJ, "and all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ." From the heart, Ray |
