Scripture ... Gen 14:22, Exo 6:8, Num 14:30, Due 32:40, Neh 9:15, Psa 106:26, Eze 36:7, Dan 12:7, Rev 10:5-6 ... Ray Lifting our hands toward God, means we are swearing by Him. There are various levels (Matt 5:33-37) and we are told to speak the truth, rather than swear, God onlty can swear on/by Himself (Heb 6:13-20) and His lifting His hands is a picture of what man did. Hi Searcher, Thank you for the Scriptures. Is this a complete list for Strong's #3027, "lifting up the hand"? Exodus 6:8 Nehemiah 9:15 Psalm 106:26 Ezekiel 36:7 Ezekiel 44:12 Ezekiel 20:5,5,6,15,23,28,42 All of those I would translate "lifted up My hand" rather than swore or sworn. Numbers 14:30 is one that I wonder about. The NASB marginal note says [raised My hand] but the NKJ marginal note says [solemnly promised]. Thanks again. From the heart,Ray P.S. What do you mean by "His lifting His hands is a picture of what man did." |
