Hello DBR, I believe that I understand your reasoning in this matter. Thank you for elaborating. I think what we have here is a misunderstanding of atonement. The purpose of the blood sacrifices was to cover for sin. Why? Because the person who sins will die (i.e. be condemned or judged - Ezek 18:4, 20). Those who had sinned unintentionally could bring a sacrifice (Lev 4:1). For intentional sin, there was no sacrifice. It could not be covered. Let's move now to the current era. Jesus Christ shed His blood as the final atoning sacrifice for sin. I know you believe that. So let me ask: For infants who have died, have they intentionally sinned? No. Have they unintentionally sinned? Possibly. If they have, the Lord's sacrifice atones for them. For those who have an understanding (like adults), Rom 5:9 and Rom 10:9 would be required because they have conciously sinned against God. God holds people accountable for what they know and understand. An infant doesn't know or understand much of anything. Do you understand my position now? Steve |
