Greetings Victorious One! Here's a little commentary on Isaiah 66:24, which I believe is speaking about the eternal punishment of the wicked. "66:24 worm does not die...fire is not quenched. The corpses of those enduring everlasting torment will serve as a vivid reminder to all of the grievous nature and terrible consequences of rebellion against God. In referring to this verse, Jesus referred to the Valley of Hinnom- i.e., Gehenna- where a continually burning trash-heap pictured the never-ending pain of the lost (Mark 9:47,48). See note on Jer. 19:6." (1) No, I do not believe that we can get the meaning from this verse that we will see glimpses of those in hell while we are in heaven. Blessings to you, Makarios (1) MacArthur Study Bible, 1997, Word Publishing, John MacArthur, Author and General Editor |
