Sometimes when we read a statement like that we look so hard for something deep we miss that the answer is right there. I take it to be referring to all the other things in ephesians 4:25-32. Not beggining to work out these changes in your life grieves God's Spirit which desires to see Christ fully formed in us (our thinking, our conduct, our relationships, etc.). In love, Beja |

Hi, Beja... Let us take care lest we give the impression that this grieving is indicative of God's eternal purpose being thwarted in some way. This is anthropomorphic language that assists human understanding. I think it was the commentator Robert Jamieson that called it "a condescension to human modes of thought." I liked your choice of words "Not beggining to work out these changes in your life..." (sic) God is the author and finisher of this redemptive work (Hebrews 12:2), "Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed."
