1 | Please explain Isaiah 60 verse 1 | Is 60:1 | Rowdy | 115907
You have to remember Isaiah was written much in the same way as Daniel and Revelation with a great deal of figurative language. Thus, it is difficult to interpret which portions are to be taken literally and which is figurative. In this case, it looks mostly figurative and I think he's talking about the coming of the Lord's Kingdom in this dispensation after Christianity is established in Jerusalem. But that's my perspective and I'm sure you'll get others. What do you think of this chapter? God bless. |

First please forgive my ignorance of the word. But I was under the impression that chapter 60 verse 1 really stated with chapter 59 As for Me, this is My covenant or league with them, says the Lord: My Spirit, Who is upon you [and Who writes the law of God inwardly on the heart], and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your [true, spiritual] children, or out of the mouths of your children's children, says the Lord, from henceforth and forever. [Jer. 31:33; Rom. 11:26, 27; Gal. 3:29; Heb. 12:22-24.] To me it's was like the Lord was re-emphazing his love, mercies, kindness and grace with his people and He was and still is proud of them being a choosen people and with that He was going to bring about great blessings upon his people. Therefore their old way of life meaning suffering and being impoverish those days are over. Because the Light has come and the glory of the Lord has has risen upon you. Meaning a new way of operating in the kingdom, nothind but riches and wealthy and happiness from here on out. |

I'm afraid I'm at a loss for words for once. I can't think of a thing to add. I would suggest sticking to the traditional handling of God's Word as it appears whenever possible. But I still wish for God's blessings on your continued study. I'll be interested in seeing what other Forum participants think about this.

Isaiah 60:1 Isaiah 60:1 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. This verse addresses Jerusalem on which the glory of the Lord will shine. This is to happen in the future. Verse 14 below actually states that it is Jerusalem(Zion)being addressed in this chapter. Isaiah 60:14 The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. |
