Greetings Ishey2, "A thousand shall flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you shall flee, till you are left like a flagstaff on the top of a mountain, like a signal on a hill." Isaiah 30:17 [ESV] And here is a bit of commentary on that verse.. "30:17 One thousand ... one. Similar figures elsewhere describe Israel's victories (Lev. 26:36; Josh. 23:10) and defeats (Deut. 32:30)." (1) "30:17 One thousand will flee. A fulfillment of the curse of Deut. 32:30. flag ... signal. See 5:26 and note (see also 1:8 and note)." (2) "30:17 One thousand shall flee: The point is that the nation will be utterly routed (Deut. 32:30)." (3) Blessings to you, Makarios (1) The MacArthur Study Bible, 1997, Word Publishing, John MacArthur, pg. 999 (2) The Zondervan NASB Study Bible, 1999, the Zondervan Corporation, Kenneth Barker, pg. 998 (3) The Nelson Study Bible, New King James Version, 1997, Thomas Nelson Publishers, Earl D.
