Thanks Doc, The words,"theonomy, anthropology, theology proper, hamartiology, soteriolgy, etc" sound too esoteric for my level and I do not have money now to buy a single piece of paper and an envelope to try to send a letter to heaven with my questions, "so to speak". I just took the time I should use for looking for a job now asking this question because I can't stop thinking about it. I thought a forum might explain why the Devil stepped in between me and God. And if my reasoning seems flawed to you, I can't do better. I can see by the mountain of golden books you mentioned and read, that you are in a much higher level of education than me and it seems that it would be useless for me to try to expect that some crumbs might fall from your golden table for me to eat. But I do thank you for showing how things work. Finder |

Dear Finder, The vast majority are on the Internet... which would cost no more than whatever it costs you to come onto SBF. Do a search on the word: theodicy. Here's a good start: http://gospelpedlar.com/articles/God/god_evil.html In Him, Doc |

Dear Doc, Thank you for your suggestions. But how am I going to be able to identify which source on the Web is reliable concerning the views on Theodicy? How can absolute truth really be found on this issue? I just read one that used the law of logic to explain his views on Theodicy, and not only it sounded inconsistent and contraditory, but he didn't even substantiate the reasons why his "lógic" was "right" except for some superficial quotations that didn't hold water. I won't even quote them here because I have no interest that it comes to the view of the public. Thank you, Finder |

Dear Finder, If God is not a rational being, then any communication with Him is pointless. If you deny logic, then your questions are pointless and any answers to them are doubly pointless. Frankly, the Scripture is relatively impoverished when it comes to the answers to "why" questions. The wisdom books, where you'd expect to find the most such answers, are uniquely barren in this respect -- for example God never does answer Job's "why" question. I suspect that there are three reasons for this: (1) Perhaps it is not our business (Deuteronomy 29:29); (2) perhaps we lack the ability to understand (Isaiah 55:8-9); or -- and this is most likely -- (3) perhaps we really don't want an answer (Isaiah 29:16; 45:9-10), we're simply complaining against and criticizing God. I'm afraid that no one is going or is able to bring all the answers to you, all neat and tidy on a silver platter -- particularly answers with which you will be satisfied. If the answers were easy, you wouldn't find the volume of discussion on the topic for as long as men existed. Furthermore, if you really, truly want answers -- and so far you've resisted any effort to help you obtain them -- you are going to have to do like the rest of us have done: sweat for them. There ARE answers... but you're like a man who expects to be taught how to do brain surgery, but resists starting with High School biology. There are no shortcuts in neurosurgery -- why would we think there might be in Biblical theology? So what is the most kind and encouraging thing I can do for you? Nothing but urge you to go and be about the business of finding. Only then will you find... becoming a "finder," indeed! In Him, Doc "The Sovereignty of God is the stumbling block on which thousands fall and perish; and if we go contending with God about His sovereignty it will be our eternal ruin. It is absolutely necessary that we should submit to God as an absolute sovereign, and the sovereign of our souls; as One who may have mercy on whom He will have mercy and harden whom He will." --Jonathan Edwards |
