Hi, Julia... That's a good question. I think that the first thing to remember is the genre of the passage. Often the prophets would use poetic language. Nonetheless, I do not see any reason to see this section of Scripture as being purely metaphorical. Thus, I do not think that we could be faulted for receiving what Isaiah is saying here in a fairly literal fashion. Let's keep in mind, though, the general thrust of his meaning in contrasting the time he is talking about from what we see in the world today. What Isaiah is talking about is the new earth. The redeemed will live resurrected lives upon the new earth. See Revelation 22. In Him, Doc |

Doc, If you read my profile then you know my husband is a JW and he tells my daughter they will be able to play with all the animals in paradise. I have never been told that, or had even heard of that until he started telling her. And reading these verses, it seems like we are. I'm just wondering if it will be after the rapture, when Christ reigns in the millennium. |

Hi, Julia... We will all be praying for you! I cannot speak to the events you mentioned (rapture and millennial reign). They tend to be highly featured by dispensationalists. I am not fully persuaded of that particular eschatology. However, I think that all Christians would view Revelation 22 as speaking of the new heaven and new earth, the consummation of God's eternal purpose. Therefore, if those other eschatological events take place, then Revelation 22 will be afterwards. In Him, Doc |
