1 | destruction of earth | Gen 8:21 | stjohn | 219841
Hi templescroll, and welcome to SBF. I'm not aware of any "inevitable" destruction of the earth and its inhabitants by nuclear war or global melt down. I don't see anywhere in Scripture or, anywhere else for that matter, that we have been given some prophesy that such an event is "inevitable". In any case, I think David has given you a good Scriptural answer, to your purely hypothetical question. If I may, I might add that Gen 9:11 and Gen 9:15 also shed some more light of truth to this subject. Both verses show us that God's goes on to promise Noah that He will never again destroy the Earth and its inhabitants by a flood of water, which again qualifies His statement in Gen 8:21. John |

okay, thanks John...but the newspapers / news make a good case for the "inevitable", even if it isn't biblical. I am trying to make a clear case for the NON-destruction of the earth to my son who brought up a good point..."if the world DID get destroyed by so much that is going on in the world now, would that prove that God does NOT exist or at least that he is a liar or impotent?" I told him that God promised Noah He would not destroy the inhabitants of the World AGAIN. But he kept on insisting on the "What If" scenario. He has been reading a lot in school and in the news. He is 15 and won't be comforted by mere dogma. Any ideas?

I'm not aware of any newspapers prophesying the inevitable destruction of the Earth. In any case "what if" questions really aren't worth very much. What if chickens had lips? What if frogs had wings? Seems kind of silly, doesn't it? This is a Bible study, Not a, "what if" chat-room, Templeguy, and if you don't believe what the Bible says about the end of the world as we know it, then you may want to visit some other website. I'm quite sure you can find plenty of places out there on the world wide web where you can have what if conversations till the cows come home, but that kind of stuff is really not welcome here and, in fact, it is against the terms of use you agreed to when you registered to this forum. Please review the terms of use before you post again. Thanks John |
