1 | Conflicting info on the real 12 tribes | Gen 48:5 | Chusarcik | 145406
Regarding the 12 tribes of Israel, another source I looked at omitted the tribes of Levi and Jospeh. This is where I received the information: Reference:http://members.aol.com/Wisdomway/twelvetribes.htm Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm confused as to which of the 14 tribes listed in Genesis are the real 12 tribes. Chusarcik |

2 | Conflicting info on the real 12 tribes | Gen 48:5 | T'oma | 145407
Chusarcik, The “house of Joseph” consisted of two complete tribes – Joseph’s sons Ephraim and Manasseh, made so by Jacob’s blessing in Gen. 48:5, where Jacob “considered Ephraim and Manasseh both sons of mine, just as Reuben and Simeon are mine”. The tribe of Levi were omitted from fighting wars, inheriting the promise land, etc. because they belonged to the Lord (Numbers 26:62 and Deut 10:9). Their towns came from all the other tribes throughout Palestine, etc. T’oma |

3 | Clarify? | Gen 48:5 | Chusarcik | 145412
The tribe of Levi was omitted from fighting wars but were still one of the 12 tribes? IF they belonged to the Lord, why would that make them exempt from inheriting the promised land? Wouldn't there be 14 tribes total including Ephraim and Manasseh? Chusarcik |

4 | Clarify? | Gen 48:5 | EdB | 145427
Chusarcik The tribe of Levi was chosen to be special they served as priests to the God. They were given cities throughout the land and the rest of Israel was ordered to care for their needs. Their service was unto the Lord exclusively. Ephraim and Manasseh replaced Levi and Joseph. They were actually made up of the tribe of Joseph. I see it as Joseph's reward for staying faithful unto God through being sold into slavery, falsely accused, remaining humble and forgiving his brothers. EdB |
