Greetings DLM! I believe that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil went the way of the Garden of Eden, wherever that went. (Genesis 3:23-24) Blessings to you, Makarios |

Thank you for your answer. This is what I believe also. I am leading a bible study for some teen girls on women of the bible and in preparing for the chapter on Eve I starting wondering about this. The book we are using for the study suggest several types of fruit that Eve probably ate but I thought we probably don't have that fruit now because the tree was in the garden when they were cast out. I don't think this is a big issue to get caught up in but I just wanted to know what other people thought. Thanks!

DLM, I quite agree with you that the destiny of the famous tree in Eden or of its fruit is not a big issue per se. It rather falls into the category of trivia -- little details about which the Bible doesn't concern itself. But nevertheless, they are things that we, being the curious creatures that we are, become fascinated by and would love to know more about. Yet I, in a quarter century or so of teaching in Bible classes, have learned that it is wise not to promote an open, free-for-all discussion of issues based on little if anything more than speculation and conjecture, be they trivial as in this instance, or more meaty issues. It is my sense that guesswork and speculation on insignifcant things can lead to guesswork and speculation on important things. I've attempted to teach and attempted, myself, to follow the axiom that may be summed up as follows. Do not feel ashamed to say 'I don't know' about things that the Bible clearly does not reveal. Do feel ashamed to say 'I don't know' about things that the Bible clearly does reveal, when your ignorance truly points to your lack of regular Bible study...... I hear so frequently, on this forum and elsewhere, the question, 'What do YOU THINK about this issue or that one?' and too infrequently, 'What does the BIBLE SAY about the issue?' At the end of the day our opinons wither as the grass and fade as the flower, but the word of our God stands forever. (cf. Isaiah 40:7) --Hank
