NASB | Genesis 2:9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 2:9 And [in that garden] the LORD God caused to grow from the ground every tree that is desirable and pleasing to the sight and good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the [experiential] knowledge (recognition) of [the difference between] good and evil. [Rev 2:7; 22:14, 19] |
Subject: Trees in Genesis real? |
Bible Note: I agree with THECROSS- that the tree of knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life were real 'actual' trees. These two trees differ in their 'fruit', or consequences to mankind if 'picked' or eaten by mankind.. Of the 'consequences' of eating from the tree of knowledge, we need only look to Genesis 3:22. On the other hand, the tree of life provides eternal life! It was possible for Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge and then eat from the tree of life, living forever! But God saw to it that this wouldn't happen by guarding the tree of life (Gen. 4:24). It is noted that Adam and Eve only ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They did not eat from the tree of life. We, the believers in Christ, will have the right to eat from the tree of life in heaven! (Rev. 22:2,14) And we will live forever, praising His name! Nolan |
